Department Services

Patients

The department is dealing with a wide aspect of benign and malignant pathology of the chest including Lung, Oesophagus, Mediastinum, Chest wall and Diaphragm.

Although the management of cancer remains of prime interest, our staff are equally capable of dealing with benign pathology of the chest, such as correction of Pectus deformities with excellent cosmetic results.

Patients are not only looked after during their hospital stay but are followed up at regular intervals.

Community

We recognize the importance of being able to have a high standard care even when away from Hospital. Hence the Department is busy developing strong links with the community including health carers. We are promoting the establishment of a common language by cascading information via the website.

The new WebPages for GP’S and nurses will soon be available containing educational audiovisual material and useful leaflets. Most of this material has been produced from our team for the community health carers.

Staff

Happy and well trained staff are an important aspect of a Surgical Department.

We have established an educational programme for nurses and junior doctors regarding new advances in the surgical management of Diseases of the Chest.
