Personal Summary
Mr. Kostas Papagiannopoulos did all his initial schooling and Primary Medical studies in Greece. He qualified as a medical Doctor in 1990. He spent 8 years in South Africa, Cape Town were he finished his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery and developed a specific interest in Pathology of the Lungs and esophagus.

He spent over a year in Royal Brompton Hospital working mainly with Mr. Peter Goldstraw in Thoracic Surgery further refining his experience in Thoracic Surgery. During this time he had the opportunity to publish in International Journals and present in International conferences.
He further pursued experience in the Belgian ground working with Professor Tony Lerut who has been an authority in the management of esophageal cancer.

He left Belgium in 2001 and since then he has been successfully appointed as a consultant Thoracic surgeon in Leeds General Infirmary. He has also received an Honorary Senior Lecturer’s contract through the University of Leeds.
He has published in international Journals and presented in conferences at National and International Level.

Professional Interests
Lung and oesophageal oncology, chest wall tumors, pectus deformity ( Ravitch or Nuss repair ), Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery.

Other Interests
IT technology, networks and website designing, teaching and e-learning, digital photography and video editing.

Languages
Fluent in Greek, English and Afrikaans. Comfortable with Flemish.
