Ward 16

Location

Ward 16 is situated in the Jubilee Building on Level F

Visiting

Visiting time is from 8h00am to 8h00pm.

Only two visitors are allowed at a time by the bed. Day rooms are situated on the Ward and can be used by patients and their visitors.

We advise no children under 5 years.

Toilet facilities are not available on the ward and visitors are requested to use those situated at Level B close to the reception area.

There are restaurant and snack facilities available on G and B floors. Visitors are not allowed to bring and consume food or drinks on the ward.

Valuables

You are advised to leave valuables at home. A safe is available on the Ward for valuables. However, cash sums over £20 will not be kept on the Ward and will be sent for safe keeping to the finance Department.

Toilet and Bathroom Facilities

There are designated male and female toilets and bathroom facilities. Single sex bays are adhered to most of the time.

Clothing/toiletries

You may wear your own clothes on the Ward. We advise that these are comfortable and loose fitting.

You will need a towel and essential toiletries for your stay on the Ward e.g. soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, flannel/sponge and tissues.

Other services

There is a hairdresser who visits the Ward on Thursdays; there is a charge for this service.

There are two day rooms with TV facilities.

There is a portable pay phone to make outgoing calls. You will need 10p, 20p, and 50p coins.

Activities

  • Breakfast 8h00 a.m.
  • Doctor rounds 8h00 a.m. to 9h00 a.m.
  • Morning coffee around 10h00 a.m.
  • Lunch around 12h00 mid-day.
  • Afternoon drink around 3h00 p.m.
  • Evening Doctors ward round 16h00p.m. to 17h00p.m.
  • Supper around 18h00 Evening hot drink around 20h00

Primary Nursing

On admission you will be designated a team of nurses who will look after you and plan your nursing care

Each team has a senior member called a Primary nurse. The team members are called Associate Nurses and are qualified nurses. Your primary Nurse’s name as well as responsible consultant’s name are written on a little board at the head of your bed.

All staff wear a name badge which states their designation.
